 28.03 Saturday Arrival of Ukrainian participants

On Wednesday April 1st we'll be visiting Kerstin Karge, member of Arttransponder to speak about the tenant's initiative Oderberger Strasse. What is the history of the tenant's initiative in Prenzlauer Berg, how has the area been changing since the re-unification?

We'd like to recommend the gentrification blog for further reading (in german), which updates on recent developments in Berlin, relating to urban development, city renewal and gentrification.

 LEBEN OHNE KOMPROMISSE

The trend of young families moving into the Suburban Sprawls is decreasing due to changing life-styles, such as double earners and a long commuting time. The townhouse offers the safety and security of suburbian idyll while located amidst exciting urban life.

On Monday 30.03.09 we will visit Neukölln and Kreuzberg, focussing on the soft renewal which took place in Kreuzberg throughout the 1980's. Also as a comparison to the recent developments in the former Eastern parts of the city, such as Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Friedrichshain, we'd like to look closer into the soft renewal, which re-shaped Kreuzberg.
